Dragons DVD Takes Off!

Hi Folks-
Dragons came out on Blu Ray/DVD last Friday and so far it's doing really well! Dave and I watched it that night on his ps3, and even took pictures of the movie on his ps3 menu. All that hard work crammed into a little digital icon on his tv screen. The movie looks fantastic on blu ray and we watched with commentary from Chris, Dean and Bonnie. Thoughts, feelings and even overwhelming anxiety/memories took over me from sequence to sequence. We all worked so hard on this film and the final result really shines through. Congrats to the whole cast n crew!
As an added bonus, we watched Boneknapper, our second labor of love. Great stuff all around. Go out and buy a copy if you get the chance!

That's a Wrap!

HTTYD comes out on Friday. EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! I have never been so touched by a Dreamworks film before. The acting, the characters, backgrounds, lighting, EVERYTHING is a treat for the eyes, ears and soul. This film has so much heart and emotion. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the trades and from viewers. I saw it for the first time, completed over the weekend at the crew screening and it blew my mind. I can't believe it all came together, after over a year and a half of hard work, end result shows it.

It has definitely been an experience for myself and for the studio. I believe dragon will raise the bar not only for Dreamworks but for the industry.

I'm so happy that the shirts came out looking awesome! I keep hearing such positive feedback from around the studio. It's pretty cool to see the shirts all over campus!

Layout Shirt

The top drawing is the Photoshop file

This is the final vector drawing

I've been wanting to post this forever and since the shirts are for sale now, I think it's safe to post it.
This is the final design for our Layout crew shirts. Props to Zack for vectorizing it. I've never done any silkscreening before and the process is really complicated to get a shirt made. For example, it's easiest to print a shirt with 3-5 colors. I originally had 8 but thanks to my bro we whittled it down to 6. I don't use Illustrator and the image needs to be vector in order to be printed, so thankfully my bro has a knack for Illustrator. It was an experience non-the-less and now I know what to expect for the next crew shirt. I'm super excited it was chosen and will be worn all over the studio! Go Dragons!

Hai!!!! I need You to go to Anim Dailies!! Thaaaaaannk Youuuuu!!

It's nearing 6 o' clock in the evening, which means it's time for the infamous Animation Dailies, every FLO Artist's dream [mm hmm]. Sometimes it's my task to round up a FLO Artist to be a Layout rep at Anim Dailies. Most don't enjoy it because it takes away from their work time; some like to go because it gets them out of the office and into the animation department, a nice break. But the point being, when you see my face come around the corner with a big, wide, grin it can mean only one thing: that I've come to claim you for Anim Dailies.

sorry for the lame layout of this post.

I was looking through one of my notebooks from work and came across some old doodles I had done towards the end of the summer, early fall. All this is from various meetings, inbetween me taking notes. I take notes, I swear!! Sometimes people go off on tangents and whatever they're saying isn't important.... Some of these are cute, some suck.
