Me and My Shadow

I have begun to work on a new show: Me and My Shadow! I'm pretty excited for this one; it's a 2d/3d hybrid which means new challenges, a new pipeline and a whole new look for DreamWorks! I'm back in the Layout department after a brief stint in Lighting and look forward to working with the Layout artists again. Here's the official voice talent announcement from the HWR.

Outside of work I've continued to draw in my sketchbook and been working with my roommate on some little side projects. Our latest is making handmade stuffed animals. We don't exactly know what we're going to do with them, but for now it's a fun bonding experience and keeping me sane!!

Dreamworks' Holiday Bazaar

Last night we had our Holiday Bazaar at work. I sold about 13 items and made a few dollars. This was definitely an experiment, since I've never done anything like this before. I now know that bunnies are a hot item, and that I need to add them to my Sculpey menagerie next time! The one animal I *didn't* make!

I will keep my little critters at my desk if anyone needs a last minute Christmas gift!
Here's a picture of Rebekah and I at our table last night! She makes cute terrariums!

Rainy Sunday

I created my first business card today for my earrings. I decided to call em Teenie Tines, cuz they're so little. In fact, I made my smallest creation yet, 2 wee sheep smaller than a quarter. How I did it, I haven't a clue, I just got in the zone. I'm reluctant to sell them, because they're so darn cute, but I think I won't have a problem actually having someone purchase them.
I've started to glaze a few things, just to see how it looks. I do like the matte finish but some things just look better glazed and I think it'll protect the clay and the delicate parts.

Here's the background of my business card that I whipped up today. I used Vistaprint and it was relatively inexpensive. It's the shipping that gets ya!!

Used Frankie as my logo-ish thing. I added the text on vistaprint.

Wee sheep

Some teenie weenies and an owl. I'll be selling these guys too.

What's Going On?

I've found that I've been blogging more often, I guess I have more to say? Either way here's some new additions to my little jewelry collection. I'm going to try to test the waters at work and see if I can manage to sell some of them. I'd like to sell them at DreamWorks Holiday Craft Fair, but I'm not even sure if they're having one this year.

Project

I am trying to channel my energy by diving into a jewelry project.
I've been making little critters out of Sculpey for years now but I never really did anything with them. In fact, I have an entire box of little Wiener Dogs sitting in my closet and I don't know what to do with them. Back in college I made Wiener Dogs for fun and called them Teenie Weenies but I never sold them or distributed them.

So now, I have been trying my hand at making earrings. I've made a few pairs recently and have been receiving tons of compliments so I must be doing something right!

Here's what I've done so far:

Layout Shirt

The top drawing is the Photoshop file

This is the final vector drawing

I've been wanting to post this forever and since the shirts are for sale now, I think it's safe to post it.
This is the final design for our Layout crew shirts. Props to Zack for vectorizing it. I've never done any silkscreening before and the process is really complicated to get a shirt made. For example, it's easiest to print a shirt with 3-5 colors. I originally had 8 but thanks to my bro we whittled it down to 6. I don't use Illustrator and the image needs to be vector in order to be printed, so thankfully my bro has a knack for Illustrator. It was an experience non-the-less and now I know what to expect for the next crew shirt. I'm super excited it was chosen and will be worn all over the studio! Go Dragons!

A 'Lil Slice of Jessie Heaven

Girly enough for ya!? Ah, this is how I feel when I experience pure contentment. Mmmmm yummy! Cupcakes and bunnies and cotton candy as far as the eye can see. Yes, I could live here.

work in progress

I started this a while ago. I was inspired by the song: Mr. Ghost Goes to Town
This is definitely a work in progress. I've hit a wall. I actually wanna re-do the whole thing, but I've worked on it off and on so I thought I'd post. I want to take out the suitcase or put it somewhere else. I don't like his face either. Bleh.

White Elephant

I have like three white elephant parties at work before xmas break, so I figured I'd make a little gift card to give along with my present. I think I'll add "Happy Holidays" or something generic yet informative to it.

Winner!

I just got back from The 1st Annual ASIFA Student Film Festival. My thesis won for the Judges' Prize and it was a real thrill. UCLA swept 4 out of the 5 prizes! Go BRUINS!! I couldn't have done it without Mike of course. All his dedication and hard work really helped me and he deserves this award just as much as I. Congrats to Melissa, Joaquin, and Erick as well!

Hello

Wow. It's been a while, eh? Summer has been pretty chilll so far. Good news though. I have an interview at a pretty big studio next week. I won't say anymore because I'm superstitious when it comes to these things. I will post more about it later. These little doodles are pre-pre-concept art for my thesis. The theme: moi. These aren't final by any means, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Trees

Hooray for finished films! Onto typing papers. I thought I'd post some trees I made back in my pre-production days for my film. They were inspired by Eyvind Earle's spectacular paintings. I wish his art books weren't so dang expensive. I'd love to own one. Happy Memorial Day!

wee!!

So the film is more or less done, methinks. A little sound effects here, and some musical stuff there and then I will call out into the streets "THAT'S A WRAP!!" Here are some jumping critters for ya.

getting annoyed

i'm happy to say that i'm done animating and coloring. ahh, now the arduous task of the post production begins. i've just spent over 4 hours going back and looking at and tweaking my earlier scenes and the animation (as it usually does with student films) is very "blah" in the beginning. my ending act is much better compared to the earlier stuff. c'est la vie. i'm compelled to reanimate the whole thing, but there's that little issue of time. it's a student film, so we'll just leave it at that. i need to eat.
enjoy the yeti.

Scream

Hello folks! Another late and not-very-exciting post for you all. Still plugging away at the olde filme. Time's a-tickin'. It's due June 6th!! I'm almost done with the animation and coloring though, so I'm pretty excited. Today we had our midterm and I think the feedback was pretty encouraging. Always nice to know people enjoy your work.
