Earrings, etc

A random sampling of my earrings and critters.  I'm trying to figure out a good place to sell these things other than Etsy or other online shops.  I would love to have them on display in a boutique somewhere in an artsy neighborhood.

Baby White Rhino

I found this adorable post about a new baby white rhino that was born at Florida's Lion Country Safari recently.
I had to draw her!

Back From Paris

I haven't been on here for almost a year now!  I have been drawing like crazy but never seem to motivate myself to put it up on the blog.
I recently took a vacation to Paris (second time now, I know!) with my mom for our birthdays.  It was FREEZING cold there, low 30s every day.  I brought a sketchbook but didn't have much time to draw but managed to sketch my version of a Parisian girl.  They're all stick thin, wear big scarves, designer coats and carry luxurious leather bags.  Each girl is more pretty than the next and they carry themselves with poise and grace.  Yes, I was jealous of their style.

Zot the Anteater

I made little Zot here for my friend Lauren who is getting married in a month.  I need to make Josephine Bruin next.  They will function as little wedding cake toppers at her wedding.  Lauren went to UCLA and her fiance went to UCI.  I liked how Zot came out, but Josie will be a little more challenging.

Me and My Shadow

I have begun to work on a new show: Me and My Shadow! I'm pretty excited for this one; it's a 2d/3d hybrid which means new challenges, a new pipeline and a whole new look for DreamWorks! I'm back in the Layout department after a brief stint in Lighting and look forward to working with the Layout artists again. Here's the official voice talent announcement from the HWR.

Outside of work I've continued to draw in my sketchbook and been working with my roommate on some little side projects. Our latest is making handmade stuffed animals. We don't exactly know what we're going to do with them, but for now it's a fun bonding experience and keeping me sane!!

Dreamworks' Holiday Bazaar

Last night we had our Holiday Bazaar at work. I sold about 13 items and made a few dollars. This was definitely an experiment, since I've never done anything like this before. I now know that bunnies are a hot item, and that I need to add them to my Sculpey menagerie next time! The one animal I *didn't* make!

I will keep my little critters at my desk if anyone needs a last minute Christmas gift!
Here's a picture of Rebekah and I at our table last night! She makes cute terrariums!

What's Going On?

I've found that I've been blogging more often, I guess I have more to say? Either way here's some new additions to my little jewelry collection. I'm going to try to test the waters at work and see if I can manage to sell some of them. I'd like to sell them at DreamWorks Holiday Craft Fair, but I'm not even sure if they're having one this year.

Back from Outer Space

I found this cool site called http://animalblog.me/ and it's full of great photos of animals. Yesterday I doodled a few and tucked em in my sketchbook, along with my own lil' critters.

April Blues

One day I will return to normal. In the meantime I filled up a sketchbook which I have now set to rest in my bookshelf. Here's a sketch from my now filled-book and my new book which I started recently.

Being Positive

Valentine's Day isn't my favorite holiday. In fact, I find it rather insulting to be honest. If I were to celebrate it, I'd want it to be low key. No fluff. But this year, I am embracing the fluff, by making valentines for my layout crew on PiB. I figured I'd try to be positive this year and create some good karma by making others happy.

I went online and googled vintage valentines for inspiration. I found so many cute ones it was hard to decide which ones to give a new spin too. I finally ended up with this one:

I liked the simplicity of it and the overall design. So I decided to add Puss to the picture and created my own. It was perfect and fit Puss' attitude. Hopefully it'll make my crew smile a little. At least I had fun drawing it and created a little project for myself.

Lil' Sketch Book Sketches

My friend Shane's wife decorated this little sketch book and I fortunately received one for Christmas. It's a Moleskin so the paper quality is really nice and it's small enough for me to keep in my purse at all times. I try to draw in it when going out for coffee or to eat with friends. Last week I drew some cute bunnies and other random stuff while getting Starbucks with Traci, Erik and Andrew. I need to get an actual larger Moleskin and start drawing more often. I find, better the paper quality, the better quality of the drawings.

Swiss Miss

I have been bitten by the travel bug, and let me tell you: it stings!! I have such an urge to travel somewhere far away, but haven't the time or the sufficient funds to do so just quite yet. Virgin America is offering some sweet deals to Seattle, WA and I am looking into that. It wouldn't be until the spring or early summer due to just starting on Puss In Boots. To take a vacation now would be sort of spontaneous and down right irresponsible. I must plan something fantastic!! The ultimate goal is to get to Europe by next summer. Destination: Switzerland if I can! I will settle for France or Italy too ;)

I leave you with an iconic image of Swiss culture- the cow. So cute and quaint. I love that they are decorated with flowers and wear those big, brass bells. I will now day dream I am in a meadow listening to the cows graze on the sweet grass and Edelweiss.

That's a Wrap!

HTTYD comes out on Friday. EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! I have never been so touched by a Dreamworks film before. The acting, the characters, backgrounds, lighting, EVERYTHING is a treat for the eyes, ears and soul. This film has so much heart and emotion. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the trades and from viewers. I saw it for the first time, completed over the weekend at the crew screening and it blew my mind. I can't believe it all came together, after over a year and a half of hard work, end result shows it.

It has definitely been an experience for myself and for the studio. I believe dragon will raise the bar not only for Dreamworks but for the industry.

Go Go Gadget Starbucks!!

Don't you wish you had the power to summon a delicious cup of coffee from your bed, by just raising your arm and saying those 4 magic words? It'd definitely make getting up in the morning much easier!

Layout Crew Shirt is Done!

I'm so happy that the shirts came out looking awesome! I keep hearing such positive feedback from around the studio. It's pretty cool to see the shirts all over campus!
